Catching up on summer....pt.2

ok so after a little fun I got to have even more fun with my youth kids spent at a week of camp at Camp Weed (its not what you think-i swear) in Live Oak, FL (don't worry its in the middle of nowhere)...after camp I backed up my awesome middle schoolars and joined two other churches to work in Raleigh, NC. It was a week of serving, fellowship, and just plain FUN. We had such a great time in our pit stop to Charlotte for the weekend on the way back.

Who said work cant be fun?

catching up...summer pt. 1

with all my youth starting back this week (good luck out there guys) I've been getting ready to get back into the swing of things. But before I throw myself into fall I want to reflect back on the busiest, craziest, hardest summer I've had yet. Trip #1 Bonnaroo and then home to Nashville for a DEAR friend Krista Hoods Wedding...

1. Bonnaroo:

(BGA high school reunion)

2. Nashville. Dear Krista who I have been best of friends since I was 15 tied the knot with her Auburn beau Daniel.

full circle...

so if you know me at all you know I'm obsessed with circles. I am always wearing one (and recently permanently) because I truly believe that everything in life is cyclical. Not only does it symbolize Gods eternal love for us, but as my friend Skip pointed out: universal religion. Wow what a concept. Rob Bell, a popular emerging church paster, has recently been criticized by some evangelicals for his new book Love Wins.

why you say? Apparently Rob doesn't feel that we know or have any right to say where people will be after death. Right on man. Right on. Who knew that was such a blasphemous thing to say. I personally have preordered the book and cannot wait to dive in.

So why on this circle thing? Well as Ive been refecting in Lent (known as a season for refection, desciplin, and quite time), I realize there are so many things I am experiencing not for the first time. The big one. World Visions 30 hour Famine.

In middle and high school I participated in the famine year after year, and now as a youth director am running my first famine with six other Episcopal churches. To be able to reflect back on what I felt as a youth and try to foster that in my own youth group is incredible. I am so excited to fast along with them March 25-25 and raise money for Haiti (you know that little nation that is still experiencing so much suffering). My youth have already raised hundreds of dollars and I couldnt be more proud. To find out more go to http://www.30hourfamine.org/

T-Giving ( a little late I know)

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. No not just because of the food...though that is a good perk. No the main reasons is that it kicks off the season of Advent (meaning coming) and the preparation of the birth of Jesus.

It is a season to reflect, prepare and BE THANKFUL. So glad we have a pegan holiday of food, booze, and football to kick it off right. Although I was in Jacksonville for the holiday, I am grateful for my friends who took me in for such a great holiday....

wedding bells: NOLA style

while it seems someone is always getting married I was so blessed to witness my friend Madi (I call her Mad) tie the knot with the man of her dreams last weekend. It was a wonderful night and getting to be with my friends back in New Orleans was just too good to be true. After this weekend I am so looking forward to our reunion in NYC!

nashville....

ok so Ive been bad about this blog thing. Not like I have tons of interest in it or anything, but I went to Nashville a couple weeks ago and couldn't have needed anything more. The week of seeing old friends, going out, and hanging out with family was just what I needed to get ready for fall here in Jacksonville. Here are some pics from the week....
